Change of season – change of lives

In the current novel as it opens, the seasons are changing in Nepalle and the weather is growing cold just as it is here with temperatures near freezing and frost all over the cars this morning. Change of seasons mark transitions in our lives as it will in the character’s lives. Since we cannot predict the future, I do not know what the winter will bring for me. In the lives of the characters in the novel, a small event will trigger momentous events for them and change their lives forever.

Work is going slower than I wish

Work on the second novel is proceeding. It is going a bit slower than I would wish, but I have to spend some time each day working on marketing the first novel. Also, because this house is on two floors, my disability means we are going to have to move. My son and daughter-in-law gave us some land on their farm and we are building a handicapped equipped home. That demands our time from time to time. It would be nice to be able to set down and write or edit all day long, but it is just not possible. I am already behind where I would like to be the second novel because of those two demands. I guess I should leave this blog and returned to the novel – grin.

Reader review of Bringer of Justice from Amazon. “It was a real unique book. I really liked it though it just felt really rushed through but I'm defiantly looking forward to the next book.”

I am working on the second of the novel in the series and will consider the "rushed" comment as I finish it and edit it.

I received a short but very nice email yesterday from a reader of Bringer of Justice. I am not sure if the reader was male or female, but what I appreciated was two things they really liked and one thing they did not. I do my very best to be the best possible writer I can be and it helps a great deal to know what works and what does not. Why?

I got a couple of notes saying they were surprised that people did not believe I had served in Vietnam. As I said in my posting the other day, it did not surprise me. People seem to be claiming all sorts of things that are not true these days. I can see why someone might claim they had a college degree to get a job, but why they would want to claim they were in Vietnam makes no sense to me. It was never a popular war. When we came back home, we were called all sorts of X-rated names or names that hurt even more such as “baby killer.” I am very pleased that our current veterans are treated much better.

Proof of Vietnam service

I received a note questioning if I could prove I served in Vietnam. With the weird world today, it does not surprise me that someone would ask for proof. The first picture is of a base I served at in Vietnam. It was called Quang Tri and in the far north of the country. The second is a picture of me helping assemble rockets used by the helicopters. It is basically taking them out of the shipping containers as you see them there and screwing on the warhead. I was helping out a couple of Marines who were having trouble keeping up with the demand for rockets that day. I cannot believe I was ever that skinny – grin.
