I got a couple of notes saying they were surprised that
people did not believe I had served in Vietnam. As I said in my posting the
other day, it did not surprise me. People seem to be claiming all sorts of
things that are not true these days. I can see why someone might claim they had
a college degree to get a job, but why they would want to claim they were in
Vietnam makes no sense to me. It was never a popular war. When we came back
home, we were called all sorts of X-rated names or names that hurt even more
such as “baby killer.” I am very pleased that our current veterans are treated
much better.
